What is a Whole House Fan?

A WHF pulls cool air from outside creating a breeze through your home forcing the hot air out through your attic vents. This natural cooling ventilation appliance will significantly cool down your entire home eliminating costly AC use, maintenance & repair. WHF’s not only protect your wallet, and our earth but they also contribute to your health by providing fresh air exchanges which along with the heat remove airborne irritants such as VOC’s/Viruses/Odors. How It Works

Anytime it is cooler outside than inside your home you just open your windows and let the WHF pull the cool breeze across your living space and out through your attic. This low-cost natural process is called Thermal Mass Cooling. A properly sized WHF efficiently ventilates the entire home exchanging the air up to 15-20 times per hour. This cooling effect can instantly reduce indoor temperatures up to 10-15 degrees and your attic space by up to 30 degrees!

Many people confuse a WHF with Attic fans but the two accomplish different goals; however, when used in conjunction they offer the best ventilation and cooling processes for your home.

How To Use Your WHF

When using your QuietCool WHF, we recommend starting by cooling the area which will be most occupied. In most cases the early evening is spent in the kitchen, dining or living room areas which is where you would want to start cooling. As it gets later in the evening and cooler outside we recommend opening more windows in other rooms of your home. Then overnight you can close most windows keeping a select secure few open and run your WHF all night or set on timer for as long as desired. This will cool down the thermal mass of your home with the very cool night air and keep your home cool for the entire next day!

I had a very positive experience with Bay Area Whole House Fan. They responded quickly to my request for a quote, did the estimate process over the phone (which does require you to stick your head in your attic and snap photos, plus a few other locations). From first contact to install was only two weeks - granted, it's January during Covid but that was super fast service.

The installation team was great, and Brian, who led the install, was the best. From beginning to end, Naomi, Mike, Tawny, Brian and their crew were completely professional and responsive....

I set up the appointment with Tawny, she answered all my questions and was really great to work with. Mike did the virtual assessment, he was very detailed and even educated me along the way!

I had to reschedule several times because of the recent wildfires; they were very understanding and accomodated my concerns. When it came time for the install, Brian and Vic explained how the install would go, and did a great job. Brian took the time to point out some other things that I should fix, and it wasn't stuff that WHF does, so he really was just taking the time to share his expert opinion, which was much appreciated...

I should have had my whole house fan installed before our heatwave this summer - it makes a huge difference. Follow the directions on how to use and how wide your windows should be and it will cool your house.

Most highly recommended. These guys are GOOD and their products are too. And, given my recent fan service, they are very careful to protect their customers from the Corona virus, and we appreciated that a lot.

This updates a review that we submitted in late Summer, 2019. Their initial installation was superbly done and included removing a decrepit, nasty old ceiling fan, framing in the existing ceiling opening to fit the smaller opening for the new fan, clearing attic vents under the eaves to meet required attic venting...

My experience with Bay Area WHF was an absolutely terrific one as they were professional, punctual, pleasant, and just really easy to work with. They were timely and on top of every communication channel (email, phone calls) and the work was done very well. Everyone who we spoke with was kind, friendly, very knowledgable, and just an overall great team there. We are extremely happy to have a house fan because we can cool down the house in the evenings with the fresh cool outside air and not have to run the AC. It looks like global warming is going to be a thing! It was 110° in my downtown los Gatos apartment on May 26, 2020. I searched for a hard to find Solution and took a stab at finding it within a local business. Tawny Answered the call during this pandemic and answered all of the questions I didn't even know I had. When I couldn't arrive for the narrow window of pick up due to sheltering in place, Tawny went above and beyond in helping me to find a way that could work with my difficult schedule. I strongly recommend this business in Campbell!

Bay Area WHF installed a QuietCool WHF, 3 Return Air Pathways and added 3 new vents. I decided to contract with Bay Area WHF because they took the time to ensure the proposed system and venting were optimal for our home/needs. When they arrived they were very Covid 19 responsible (actually taping up a plastic sheet barrier between where they were working and where my son and I were doing online schoolwork). The work was done well and professionally. The owner, Jacob, stopped by a couple of times to check on how the work was going. I was impressed to see him at the end of the day also helping to clean up, which they also did well.
